A cloudy day in the capital
Series of photographs taken on May 23, 2025 in Tokyo (Japan) as part of a touristic trip.
For this 3rd day we had planned to spend a day in Fujikawaguchiko 📍 but with the weather (grey and rainy) we decided to spend a chill day in Tokyo, shopping and freestyling. Because of our plans for this day, there are not many more photos on this diary and most of the themes are streets, party and architecture in this article.
We wanted to visit the key fashion districts of Tokyo, particularly Shinjuku and Harajuku.

I didn't take many pictures this day because my hands and eyes were busy looking at which manga to buy or which Chiikawa accessory to get.
We wandered around these two neighborhoods with a mission in mind that surprised us throughout our 2-weeks stay here: to find Fujifilm instant films for Instar mini (normally produced in this country) but even in official Fujifilm stores these were non-existent and out of stock.
Tired, distraught and hungry after our search, which had taken many hours, we took a chance: stopping at the first restaurant that offered a new dish to try and that looked good.
Unlike the first day, we did not go up into a building but went down into a basement so beautifully and warmly decorated with wood everywhere.
We had delicious lemonades in which they put real pieces of pureed and cut fruit.
We ate Katsudon: a bowl of rice topped with a fried tonkatsupork cutlet, egg, vegetables, and condiments. Besides, we had miso soup with tofu pieces that were wonderfully seasoned and spicy, overall well-done, radish pieces, and a small green salad.

We continued our shopping after this lunch, despite the surprise of not having found Fujifilm film for the Intax Mini.
Another thing that surprised us was how difficult it was to find matcha in Tokyo. We were walking around hoping to find a cafe that offered matcha-to-go, but on this third day, we still hadn't had any matcha.
It was then a terrible day + 3 without matcha.
This day has once again reinforced the fact that public toilets are accessible here (free, multiple, clean, in different locations)

Kornelia bought a really nice bunny cap for the club !

After our shopping session between the famous sneakers that I discovered here the Onitsuka tiger, the thrift stores and the cute accessories, we returned to drop off our things at our hostel before going out to have dinner in a bar with Soyoon our (South) Korean friend from Erasmus met in Germany who was studying and living in Tokyo and who helped us enormously during this trip, guided us and very kindly welcomed us for the last days.
After the bar which was obviously on the 6th floor with elevator in a random building near Shibuya crossing, we tried the Atom club in Shinjuku and it was the freshest and most new experience I had in a club.

In nightclubs, the (women's) restrooms have hair dryers and hair straighteners, disposable toothbrushes, toothpaste, and even mouthwash.
Of course, the restrooms also have bidet functions.
+ There are lockers in the common areas just before you get to the dance floor! Much more convenient than the changing rooms in Europe.

After that, we strolled around Shinjuku at night, particularly to see Godzilla's big head.
Being in the far east, the sun rises earlier here. At the end of May, around 5:30 a.m., it was already a clear day. It was quite a change of scenery.
End of the third day on Japanese land.
